"Make it a Great Day!"

Have you ever noticed that almost every day is a "special designated day".  Some make sense, like our Holidays, but many are a great form of marketing.  And many days have more than one focus.  Just for fun here are the "July Daily Holidays and Observances", the focus, for the next ten days:

July 12:  Etch a Sketch Day

July 13:  National French Fry Day

July 14:  Cow Appreciation Day (and FCC "S4 Potluck Day)

July 15:  Gummi Worm Day

July 16:  National Corn Fritter Day

July 17: Wrong Way Day (But most importantly, red letter day:  Zoe Blount's Birthday!)

July 18: World Listening Day

July 19: National Tropical Fruit Day

July 20: National Lollipop Day

July 21: And my Favorite (other than Zoe's Birthday) NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY!

And the last week of July is National Moth Week.

One thing that we all have the same is twenty-four hours in a day and seven days a week.  What makes us unique is our daily focus.  How we choose to live.  God's Word is filled with wisdom and speaks of ways we should use our days.

  • Oh! Teach us to live well!  Teach us to live wisely and well!  Psalm 90:12 (MSG)

  • Don't always be asking, "Where are the good old days?"  Wise folks don't ask questions like that.  Ecclesiastes 7:10 (MSG)

  • My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity.  Proverbs 3:1-2 (NIV)

  • For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.  They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it."  1 Peter 3:10-11 (NIV)

And here are a few things that we can do to help us to properly focus on the day, on the moment, and to live it to its fullest.

  • Begin each day with Prayer.  Talk to God.  Listen.  Start off strong and focused.

  • Spend time in His Word.  Did you know there are 1440 minutes in each day.  Can you give five or more to dig into and learn from God's Word?  (I bet you can.)

  • Live intentionally.  Choose a positive "can do" attitude.

  • Determine to make a positive difference.  And do it.

  • Love and be joyful.

David sets the tone in Psalm 118:24 "This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."

I challenge you to make the "designated focus" of your day to be awesome!  To rejoice and be glad in it!  Make It A Great Day!  It sure is better than "National Snake Day"!

This Saturday morning there is an excellent opportunity for the men in our area.  There is a Men's Breakfast at Bowie Park.  This is supported by the group of Churches in the Fairview Ministerial Association - including FCC.  This is an opportunity for you to bring a friend who may not know the Lord, would not likely go to Church, but likes breakfast and sports.  Our guest speaker is the Stadium Announcer for the Tennessee Titans, Matt Rogers.  I hope that some of our men will join us.

Sunday is going to be a fun, exciting day at FCC.  We will begin with Bible Study at 9:30 looking at the book of Romans.  In Worship we will begin a new series "Dysfunction to Destiny" learning from the life of the fourth Patriarch, Joseph.  And following Worship we will enjoy our "S4 Potluck" luncheon.  God is doing great things at FCC.  It is exciting.

I hope you will join us!  I look forward to seeing you.  And Always Remember...

You ARE Loved!
