LIFT YOUR EYES IN GRATITUDE ...
Most everyone knows that my "Happy Place" is the Smoky Mountains. Actually, I love nature and God's handiwork. This past week I had the privilege of being in central Arkansas. I went down to Hot Springs and visited the National Park. The natural springs that have water that is 143 degrees flowing from them is amazing. I also went to the lookout tower in the middle of the park and was able to learn more about the history of this unique National Park established 1832. And also get a panoramic view of the beautiful fall colors, the Ozark Mountains reaching to the sky, and the clear brilliant orange sun set behind one of the towering peaks. It was spectacular. And to think that this is just a snapshot of God's gift, that continues to give, to you and I.
This time of year reminds me of David's song of Praise, known as Psalm 121 (NIV):
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord watches over you—
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
David reminds us that God's creation is incredible, but the part of Creation that He is most proud of and loves the most is YOU and ME!! David reminds us that Our Heavenly Father is with us always, both now and forevermore. This gives me strength and confidence. I hope you claim this incredible gift as well.
This past Sunday, after our worship, the wild fire reignited. I thank God for our First Responders who were quick to act and kept the fire damage in the Vale to a minimum. If you see a firefighter, sheriff, policeman, EMS, soldier, or any one who steps toward danger to keep us safe and free, thank them.
Speaking of nature, the trees are at their peak. Though we may be experiencing "liquid sunshine" on Sunday, I encourage you to join us on Sunday morning as we continue our Basic Building Blocks of Faith. This Sunday we will look at Faithful Freedom. And as you drive to FCC, look around, take it in, enjoy, and thank God for this beautiful gift.
I hope to see you on Sunday. I, and many others, miss you when you are not there. Also, listed below are some needs that we have and ways that you may be able to serve. You are definitely needed and wanted! You Belong at FCC. And, above all else, ALWAYS Remember...
You ARE Loved!
