WHAT'S YOUR SIGN SAY?

I love Church Signs.  As I travel throughout the Country, and especially through the backroads in the South, and I drive by beautiful Churches, I am often greeted by catchy Church Signs.  By the way, a very special shout out and thanks to Jessica Morena who has been keeping the message on our sign at FCC current, fresh, and fun.  Church signs, at least some, could be considered modern day words of wisdom, or as I like to say, "proverbs".  The Oxford Dictionary defines a proverb as "a short pithy saying in general use, stating a general truth or piece of advice."  (By the way "pithy" means concise and forcefully expressive").  So, here are a few of my favorites...

TOMORROW'S FORECAST:  GOD REIGNS / AND THE SON SHINES

A BIBLE FALLING APART BELONGS TO SOMEONE WHO'S GOT IT TOGETHER

HAVE YOU MADE GOD SMILE TODAY?

HONK IF YOU LOVE JESUS.  TEXT WHILE DRIVING IF YOU WANT TO MEET HIM.

SIGN BROKEN.  COME INSIDE TO HEAR THE MESSAGE

SEVEN DAYS WITHOUT PRAYER MAKES ONE WEAK

GOD EXPECTS SPIRITUAL FRUIT, NOT RELIGIOUS NUTS.

ARE YOU HUMBLY GRATEFUL OR GRUMBLY HATEFUL?

FORGIVE YOUR ENEMIES - IT WILL MESS WITH THEIR MIND.

THERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS THAT CAN'T BE ANSWERED BY GOOGLE.

TRY OUR SUNDAYS.  THEY ARE BETTER THAN DAIRY QUEEN'S.

And my favorite:  GOOD SERMONS ARE LIKE GOOD BISCUITS, BOTH NEED SHORTENING

Our lives, how we treat others, our priorities, our actions and our words show our signs.  Comedian, Bill Engvall, became famous with his humorous routines "Here's Your Sign".  So, what's the message of your sign?  Do you need to change the letters ... the message.  Is it worth reading?  Does it make others stop and take in the "pithy positive" truth?  What's your sign?

While at Cheer Camp in Tuscaloosa, in the heat of the summer, Patti and the cheerleaders would walk by this sign several times a day.  She sent me a picture of this Wise Saying of the Church sign...

We have had this on our sign before...                                         WHAT'S MISSING IN CH_ _ CH?

Of course the missing letters are "U R".  If "you are" not with us on Sunday, know that you are GREATLY missed!

This Sunday we will continue our look at 1 John.  I hope you will join us on Sunday.   And as always, REMEMBER...

YOU ARE LOVED!
