WELCOME 2023! (Time to Live Big!)
What is your 2023 going to be like? You may be saying, Pastor, how do I know!? Of course there are going to be things that occur that none of us are aware of or that we cannot control. However, you can, right now, begin to determine the kind of year that you are going to have. For there are many things that you, and only you can control. Things like: ATTITUDE: Are you going to look at things positively, or are you going to be caught up in the "doom and gloom". PHYSICAL: (This is one of my tough ones). Are you going to seriously eat better, get exercise, drink more water, and get more sleep. I bet if I do this my energy will go up and even my attitude will be better. MENTAL: Are you going to do things that challenge your mind, sharpen your thinking and even reasoning. Maybe even think more often before you speak. (For me that can be a challenge or even respond on Social Media). SOCIAL: Did you know that you are needed and wanted. You really are. Being involved with others, stretching yourself to meet new people, and communicating and spending time with loved ones is so critical. We were created for "community", so it makes sense to help develop a positive one. SPIRITUAL: Did you know that this affects all of the other areas. Your relationship with the Lord, your studying and learning His Word, your growth in your walk and service, and your participation in the community of the Family of God touches and impacts, positively and/or negatively, all of the other areas of who you are.
So with the fresh start of the New Year, I want to encourage you to be the best "you" that you can be. And if you fall short, and you will, then shake it off, refocus, and keep going. The adventure called "Life" is not a destination, it is an exciting, and sometimes challenging, journey. So no more excuses, no more blaming someone or something else, no, instead, it is time to get up, get going, and experience life to its fullest. Starting with what we are promised ... RIGHT NOW .. this moment.
It is my wish and desire for both you and me to really grow and enjoy the journey of life that 2023 is going to offer. And this time next year, as I reflect, I hope that we are both stronger and better for it. So, let's do it, let's go, and let's LIVE BIG!
A few personal notes: On the twelfth day of Christmas, Patti and I "celebrated" thirty-nine years of marriage. I am truly blessed to be married to such a kind, smart, Godly, loving lady. It is my privilege to be called her husband, and by many "Mr. Patti". I know she will probably not read this, but I thank God for my "Partner in Life", and look forward to the many more adventures that lie ahead. Also, Patti and I want to thank you for our Christmas gift. You are so generous and loving - and we continually feel the love and support from our FCC family. Please know that we love you. And as I say often, because I mean it, it is such a privilege to be your "Pastor" and even more, your Friend. Again, thank you!
This Sunday is our first Potluck for the New Year. I hope you will join us for Worship and stay and enjoy the food and fellowship. Also, after the Potluck, we will take down and store the Christmas decorations. The more folks who help, the faster, more efficient, and fun it will be. So, as mentioned earlier, no more excuses, let's get going, making this a great year, and what better place to start - than this Sunday at FCC. Remember, not only do we want you, we need you! So, I hope to see you on Sunday.
Finally, remember: Wise men seek Him. Wiser men find Him. Wisest men worship and serve Him.
As Always...
You ARE Loved!
