The Look of Love...

Do you ever hear a song and it takes you back to a different time, usually one that at least in your mind, is simpler.  That happens to me often.  This past week legendary musical genius Burt Bacharach passed away at age 94.  His music was huge and crosses many genres and audiences.  His music brings back many great memories, especially my childhood years. His song "This Guy's In Love With You" reminds me of vacations in Myrtle Beach and going to "Pirate Land".  "A Look of Love" (1969) brings back fun memories of seeing the spy spoof movie "Casino Royale".  And of course, we all have been caught singing "What the World Needs Now is Love".   Music is so powerful!

Paul knew that too when he penned his letter to his friends in Philippi.  Chapter 2, verses 6-11, known as "The Christ Hymn", reminds us of how awesome our God really is.  And vividly shows us how giving, humble, and loving our Christ is.  What an incredible passage.  What a powerful Hymn!

This week many will enjoy watching "the Big Game'' and then will spend time and money on a day designed to share love, Valentines Day.  I hope you enjoy both.  Now, I want to challenge you to, like Paul in his powerful Hymn, take some time and focus on Real Love...the love that we undeservingly continue to receive from our Awesome Heavenly Father through His amazing Son, our Savior, Christ.  What the World needs now IS love, sweet love - yes, unconditional, incredible, sweet love - AGAPE - from our loving God.  And we, you and I, get the privilege of sharing His "valentine message" of His Love with others.  So, let's make the effort.  Let's do it!  Let's LIVE BIG and LOVE even BIGGER!

A few updates on some FCC Family matters.   Please keep Ms. Carol in your prayers.  She has been released from the hospital and is now in a nice rehab facility where she will be as she gains her strength.  (As she gets stronger we may need to pray for the folks at the facility - lol.). We all love Ms. Carol and pray for a speedy recovery.  Please pray for Ms. Cindy as well.  And let's continue to smother them both with love, support, prayers, and kindness.

Many of us are on the road this weekend.  Michael Card is singing/presenting at a retreat in Florida.  Some are picking up family.  Many are working.  However, many of us are here.  If so, I hope you will join us Sunday.  FCC is a special place, with special people...people who will love to welcome you as well.  Infact, every Sunday is Super at FCC.  And don't forget, next Sunday, following Worship, is our Potluck.  Please join us.

Finally, speaking of Music...HAPPY BIRTHDAY PASTOR LEE!  We all love Lee so much.  He is such a blessing to our Church Family.  He does so many things for FCC, and the majority of them are behind the scenes, and not even noticed.  So, Thank You Pastor Lee! Because of you, we are a better Church Family.  We are Blessed!  And on a personal note, a great friend for many years!  I really hope that Lee will  enjoy his special day and of course, CELEBRATE BIG...REAL BIG!!

You ARE Loved!

Pastor Lonnie
