What a Crazy "Hump" Day ...

There is a children's book entitled "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day" where the main character, an eleven year old boy named Alexander, just had a day with lots of disappointments and challenges, ranging from gum in his hair, finding a cavity at the dentist, to his Mickey Mouse night light burning out.  Have you ever had one of those days?  We all have.   And last Wednesday was one of those days for a local young man.  He was driving way too fast, lost control, and went airborne.  He clipped our Church sign before landing on our wet front lawn.  You may have noticed the sign.  Luckily, he is fine and did not get hurt.  (It could have been disastrous).

There are so many lessons that can be gained from this incident:  slow down, wear your seat belts, good neighbors are priceless, Life is sweet, God is good, and many more.  Sometimes in life we go way too fast and at times even lose control.  Or we feel like everything is going wrong. It can feel hopeless, depressing, and draining.  It is during these times that we need to remember that YOU are LOVED- unconditionally.  That nothing is too bad that can't be corrected and even better.  And, most of all, we need to let go and turn it over to the One who is in ultimate control, our Loving Lord.   We need to accept and receive love, encouragement, and even help from others - which can be the hardest to do.  Ultimately, we should learn from these life lessons.  Grow.  Mature.  And show love to others!

Last Wednesday was also a great day for FCC.  Our septic is in check.  Water levels are good.  And it looks like we will be getting a new sign soon.  However, the best part of Wednesday that really helped us all get over "the hump" was the beautiful Hymn Sing led by Kenny Meeks.  What a wonderful time of music, fellowship, and worship.  Thank you Kenny for leading us in this special time.  We are planning to have even more in the future.   The beautiful music from the Worship Center combined with nature's incredible chorus, led by the deep voice of the frogs, coming from the marsh caused me to pause, smile, and thank God for His awesomeness.  My crazy day ended with wonder, worship, and awe.  And I am so thankful.

This week is full of opportunities for you to be involved.   Sunday we will gather for Bible Study and Worship.  And remember, this is the night that we "Spring Forward" moving our clocks up an hour.  Tuesday night the Fernvale Community Potluck will be held in the Church's Grace Center.  What a great opportunity to visit and love on our incredible neighbors.  Everyone is invited.   On Wednesday night, Michael Card will begin a new Bible Study.  This is always a great time of learning and fellowship.  Next Saturday morning you can participate in the GraceWorks Mobile Food Pantry at Fairview Middle School.  And next Sunday is St. Patrick's Day.  Following Worship, we will enjoy food and fellowship at our Potluck luncheon.  What a fun, full week.   Also, this week is Spring Break for many, including Williamson County.  Many will be heading out for fun and adventure.  Patti and I will be in Virginia, Washington DC, and back through East Tennessee.  We will have the privilege of visiting with my parents for a large portion of the week.  Please keep us and others who are traveling in your prayers.

Life really is the "Great Adventure".  Some days are going to be better than others.  But what is so awesome, is that God, our loving Heavenly Father is there for them all.  And in these experiences we are given the opportunity to learn, grow, and share.  His Light is bright, gives us guidance, and will never burn out.  Jesus reminds us:

"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 4:14-16

And...
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."  Matthew 6:33-34
So enjoy "the ride"!

I hope to see you Sunday (even if you're sleepy from the time change).  And Remember...

YOU ARE  LOVED!
