SLOW DOWN...GO!

Do you ever think that "Life is flying by"?  July is almost over, school starts in just days, and ...!  Patti convinced me that we needed a couch on our back porch.  And man, am I glad that she did.  Almost every morning, when the day is early and just getting started, I go out on the porch with my coffee and Boomer and sit on the couch.  On many days, we just sit and listen to the World "waking up".  The beautiful songs of the early birdsI  The soft gentle rays of the rising sun caress the trees gradually lighting them in their grandeur.  And I think to myself ... Thanks God!  You did it again... Great Job.  It is a special moment that I have come to truly treasure.  As I slow down, focus on the beauty of the earth, and communicate with my Maker, I realize that ironically I am energized and ready to go.  (Add in my quiet time in the Word and I am "stoked" for the day.)

I encourage you to find time to find your "porch couch", your special place where you can slow down, recharge, and then GO!

The prophet Isaiah (40:30-31 ESV) reminds us ...

Even youths shall faint and be weary,

and young men shall fall exhausted;

but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;

they shall mount up with wings like eagles;

they shall run and not be weary;

they shall walk and not faint.

Thanks to the Blounts for leading Worship and bringing the Word last Sunday.  By the way, Matt did a wonderful job speaking at the Men's Breakfast at Puckett's on Thursday morning.  This past extended weekend, Patti and I took the opportunity to answer "the call of the mountains".  We were able to enjoy a concert, visit with family, and help an "adopted family member" who recently lost his foot.  We drove on the Smoky Mountain Foothills Parkway.  It was beautiful but the mountains were truly smoky.  The wildfires from western Canada created a smoky haze that engulfed the mountains.  But it was still beautiful and a great getaway.

This Sunday we will be looking at love that is "sealed with a sandal".  I hope you will join us.  No matter what,  always remember...

YOU ARE LOVED!
