Do you Really Care?
When I was a few years younger I remember singing a simple song that really made me think. Hymn #316 in the Baptist Hymnal. The chorus was simply "Do you really care? Do you know how to share? With people everywhere? Do you really care?". This song with a simple but powerful message was written in 1967 by Bill Cates. I can remember hearing over 1200 voices in the Spillman Auditorium at Ridgecrest Conference Center, singing this simple question..."Do you really care?" Sadly we still live in a world where there are people who are asking that same question. They just want to know that someone really cares. Think about your own life. I would dare say that the people who have made and/or are still making a difference in your life have a simple thing in common. It is not their money, their things, their titles or credentials, their status, or awards. It is simply the ones who truly care the most. I challenge each of us to not only love, but to care...truly, unconditionally care. It definitely changes lives and makes the world a better place. As the great "theologian" Linus says...
Last week we were blessed and challenged by Ric Escobar. Ric reminded us that Salvation is a gift. But Discipleship is costly. You can have salvation, knowing that your sins have been forgiven and that you will spend eternity with our Heavenly Father in Heaven. But if we want to live a life committed to the Lordship of our Savior, Jesus Christ. To be His disciple, then there is a big cost - basically everything. Thank you Ric for opening up the Word and challenging all of us. What a blessing. And a challenge.
This Sunday we will begin a series on Prayer. Also, it is our Potluck Sunday, which is always delicious and fun. We are breaking in our new "Blackstone Griddle/Grill". (I'm calling it the "Dragon Glover" in honor of Bobby and Marsha who gave this gift to the Church). Weather allowing, you will have a choice of eating inside or outside. We have several new picnic tables in the Pavilion thanks to the handy work of our own craftsman Mark Long. Miss Val and crew will have everything festive with a " Welcome Summer" feel! It is great to be a part of a Family who really does love and care...
Please join us for Bible Study, Worship, and stay for lunch. Invite someone, better yet, bring them. Show them you care. I look forward to seeing you! And Always Remember...
You ARE Loved!
